Parent Carer WELLBEING - Summer Event!

Please join us on Thursday 3rd July for a day dedicated to parent carer wellbeing at The Golden Lion Hotel, Northallerton from 9:30/10:00am to 2:30pm.

Our aim is for everyone to leave the day feeling uplifted and armed with the tools we need to tackle the upcoming summer holidays!

Workshop Introductions:

How to Thrive: Tools for Emotional Confidence with Anna Lam-Decker
Discover simple, effective tools to support your emotional well-being. This session introduces Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), or ‘tapping,’ which can help reduce anxiety, build confidence, and create a sense of calm for parents and can also be an aid to help children. You’ll also hear about the DARE to Believe programme—an inspiring approach that helps you recognise your inner strengths and step into your full potential. Alongside EFT, Anna will be exploring additional gentle techniques that encourage emotional release, resilience, and a deeper connection between parent and child and looking at practical strategies to support emotional balance and resilience at home.

Move more, live well with Diane Brown
Diane Brown, author of 'The Little Book of Active Wellbeing: Move More, Live Well'

This workshop will change the way you think about exercise so you can finally live an active lifestyle that supports your health and wellbeing in a way that works for you.

It's finally time to start living an active lifestyle you don't want to give up. The difference between this and other 'fitness' methods is that this focuses on what's going on in your mind rather than your body. You will be exercising your brain first!

YOU are the expert on YOU so instead of preaching to you, Diane will guide you through a process to help you uncover the answers for yourself and find the path to an active lifestyle that works for you. You will discover the seven principles of 'Active Wellbeing', how they can help you feel more motivated, more empowered, and begin (when you're ready) to take action that lasts a lifetime.

Lunch Break
You cater for everyone else, let us cater for you! Enjoy a tasty buffet lunch on us, not forgetting desert! Please let us know of any dietary requirements on the final booking confirmation page.

Let's have fun!

As parent carers, we all live hectic lives with very little time taken for ourselves. So let's take this opportunity, using this precious time, to have some fun! We are keeping this activity a surprise but please do not worry, it is not outdoors, doesn't involve getting muddy or wet and everyone can join in!

Key event points

  • Arrive anytime from 09.30am (coffee will be ready)

  • Main event starts at 10.00am

  • Lunch will be provided free of charge (please send dietary reqs through)

  • Event finishes at 2:30pm

  • Venue is wheelchair accessible with parking on-site

  • As this event is focused on parent carer wellbeing no children are able to attend, but we have some FREE family fun days in the pipeline for the summer holidays where everyone will be welcome.

We look forward to you joining us for some parent carer much needed uplifting fun!

Please note - There is no charge for this event, however we kindly ask that you cancel your ticket or let us know before the event if you can no longer attend. To be able to keep providing events with no charge, we must ensure maximum attendance (we appreciate emergencies crop up on the day and this cannot be helped). Digital Platform Update - Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)

North Yorkshire Council is moving ahead with plans to introduce a new digital platform for managing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). We are aiming to streamline processes, reduce staff workload, and improve transparency and access for families as part of our wider commitment to give every child and young person the opportunity to thrive.

Following a detailed review of our current systems and processes, we identified significant challenges in managing over 5,500 EHCPs using multiple disconnected tools. With up to 90 steps involved in each plan and a high volume of enquiries each month, it is clear a more effective and centralised solution is needed.

Our priority is to make the EHCP process more efficient, supportive and accessible – not just for the teams working hard behind the scenes, but for the families relying on timely, coordinated support.

We would like to invite you to join an online meeting, where you will be given the opportunity to provide the valuable feedback required to ensure we deliver a solution that works for everyone involved.

Please note the session will be interactive and you will require a device to participate.
